In his never-ending quest to come up with the next big thing, Marcus (ANDY MILDER) convinces Suzanne (HEIDI NOELLE LENHART) that she needs to shoot a low-budget (i.e. free) music video to promote herself and her song, "American Girl." He insists that has an in at MTV and that if it works, he wants to manage her and collect 15 percent of her soon-to-explode income. They strike a handshake deal (at 10 percent), Robert Hawkins (CARLTON WILBORN) signs on to direct, and the entire Who's Who gang has an idea for the video.
Unhappy with the progress of her career, Reese (STEPHANIE DICKER) determines that she must land a spot in legendary acting teacher Jack Hicks' class. Even though it's impossible to get even an audition, that's enough of a challenge to motivate Reese. Not only does she get the audition, she also manages to become a student at the Hicks Conservatory and must endure the ridicule that seems to be the mainstay of his particular method. Even though Hicks' class roster reads like a Who's Who in Hollywood, his approach begins to visibly wear her down, which of great concern to her friends and to David Graysmark (WILLIAM R. MOSES).
Meanwhile, Suzanne is becoming increasingly aggravated. Her music video is quickly shaping into an audition tape for everyone else's talent. She decides to call the whole thing off because no one has even bothered to ask her what the song is about. Robert apologizes, the gang regroups and they ultimately agree to create a video that explores her music, not their own personal interests.
Concerned about Reese's well-being, David confronts Hicks for being the narcissistic bully that he is. At first Reese is afraid of being kicked-out of his class, but when she witnesses David's support, she's grateful. She quits the Hicks Conservatory and thanks David for being a truly great teacher.
At the screening of the music video, Adam and Liz announce that the head of Rock Access liked it. It's not MTV, but it's a start. We've all got to start somewhere...
