Who's Who manager Marcus Carilli (ANDY MILDER) bumps into famous director Quinn Foster (RICHARD ABRAHAM) outside a hip and trendy restaurant. When the director compliments Marcus on his classic convertible, Marcus decides to use his car as a calling card to set up a talent showcase at Who's Who for Foster. He convinces David (WILLIAM R. MOSES) that it could be a remarkable opportunity for the group. Marcus contacts Foster the next day, offering to sell the car to him if he will agree to come to the club and check out the talent. When Foster agrees, David's students rush to put together material for the impromptu showcase.
T.J. (T.E. RUSSELL) and Suzanne (HEIDI NOELLE LENHART) work together to hold a benefit performance for "The Center," an after-school recreational center for inner-city kids. When his group insists that he find a "person of color" to be the lead singer, T.J. informs Suzanne that he must find a more "appropriate" performer. T.J. confronts his own attitudes about racism and reveals to Suzanne that he feels guilty because he did not grow up in the inner-city.
Meanwhile, Lili (ROSELYN SANCHEZ) and Reese (STEPHANIE DICKER) have a heated confrontation after Reese flirts shamelessly with Lili's boyfriend, aspiring director Robert Hawkins (CARLTON WILBORN).
Back at Who's Who, with the big night on hand and high hopes all around, the highly anticipated visit comes to a grinding halt when Foster's office calls to inform Marcus that he was called out of town unexpectedly and won't be able to make it to the performance. The group is hugely disappointed, but Ryan takes it harder than the rest. He becomes openly angry with Marcus, forcing David to step in and underscore the fact that rejection and let-downs come with the territory in show biz. The show goes anyway and is greatly appreciated by the audience that remains.
