Thanks to a tip from T.J. (T.E. RUSSELL), Lili (ROSELYN SANCHEZ) goes to a big dance audition and makes the final cut. Her excitement is short-lived when she finds out she is expected back for a singing audition. T.J. encourages her to have confidence in herself and do the best she can.
Suzanne (HEIDI NOELLE LENHART) runs into a girl she worked with four years ago who is shocked to hear that Suzanne hasn't made it big yet. While they talk, Suzanne's guitar is stolen. At home, she calls her mom to arrange a visit, but her stepfather won't allow it. To top it off, Marcus (ANDY MILDER) delivers a package with her demo tape inside, returned unopened from yet another record company.
The next day Lili nabs the part as the next Latin pop sensation and is given a $1000 signing bonus. To celebrate, she takes the Who's Who gang out to dinner. Looking over her contract, Marcus (ANDY MILDER) notices an augmenting clause, which allows the company to alter Lili's voice, but T.J. assures her it's common-place in the music industry.
At the video shoot, Lili notices whispering between the record executives. The next day, Lili runs into T.J.'s girlfriend Veronica (LESLIE REDDEN) who tells her T.J. was unexpectedly called into the recording studio. Sensing something, Lili heads for the studio and finds another woman singing her song. T.J. explains to her that the record label CEO wanted to "augment" her voice completely. Lili is furious and wants out, but T.J. convinces her to think it over first.
David (WILLIAM R. MOSES) tries to help Suzanne by giving her a guitar he received as a gift years ago. She is profoundly and emotionally affected by his generosity. She invites him to her apartment for a thank you dinner and ends up kissing him. David pulls back and politely tells her he doesn't feel the same way. Feeling rejected once again, Suzanne decides to leave town despite David's best effort to convince her to stay. To David's surprise, Suzanne shows up that night to take to the stage, where, thanks to David, she sings with a renewed sense of herself.
Lili gives the music company an ultimatum - use all of her or none at all. Unfortunately for her, they choose none and she is forced to quit. Although she knows she is losing out on what might have been an incredible career move, nothing can change the way she feels about herself for not selling out.
