Jeffrey (DANNY WOOTEN) is everywhere. His breathtaking and soulful tapping routines stop pedestrians and traffic from Venice Beach to the Santa Monica Pier, and serve as a constant inspiration to Lili (ROSELYN SANCHEZ), particularly when she's on her way to dance class! But when Lili witnesses a group of homeless men and women rounded up by the police and spots Jeffrey among them, she is stunned.
Lili follows Jeffrey to the police station in an attempt to get him released, but instead gets another shock. Waiting at the station is her dance instructor Sylvia (VALARIE PETTIFORD), who she learns is Jeffrey's sister. Sylvia and Jeffrey's parents' death four years earlier has sent Jeffrey into his own confused world of dancing and survival on the street...
Between introducing acts at Who's Who, Marcus (ANDY MILDER) gets a huge laugh when he "handles" a heckler in the audience. The effect is intoxicating to Marcus, who gave up performing years ago. With positive feedback from nearly everyone, Marcus thinks, why not try some real stand-up? He scores an open mike opportunity at L.A.'s Comedy Store and with a little help from Suzanne (HEIDI NOELLE LENHART) and Adam (MATT WINSTON), preps his routine.
Lili wants to help Jeffrey get off the streets, but her efforts interfere with Sylvia's efforts at tough love. Lili is frustrated that Jeffrey's motivation is simply to dance, not to build a career. It's also heartbreaking for his sister Sylvia who wants him to live a life with shelter, clothing, and decent meals.
Marcus' big night at the Comedy Store comes...and goes. He bombs miserably as David (WILLIAM R. MOSES) watches helplessly. Alone back at Who's Who, Marcus concedes that some things are not meant to be.
An attempt to take his sister's dance class and make peace with her fails when Jeffrey feels his dance style is compromised. Jeffrey apologizes to Lili for pulling her into his problem, and Lili begins to realize what already Sylvia knows - that Jeffrey is the only person that can help Jeffrey.
