During one of David's (WILLIAM R. MOSES) acting classes at Who's Who, he asks his students to bring in one of their baby pictures as an exercise in character development. Reese (STEPHANIE DICKER) objects as a matter of principle but David senses there is more to it.
Meanwhile, Marcus (ANDY MILDER) has recruited Adam (MATT WINSTON) to help him remove dry rot from an old wall inside the restaurant. While working, Adam stumbles across a covered door that leads into a closet full of old "junk." David and Liz (LESLI MARGHERITA) spark an interest in the contents of the room and decide to investigate further.
Privately, Reese tells Lili (ROSELYN SANCHEZ) that she has never been very close to her family. Lili is bothered by Reese's lack of family ties so, to make her feel like part of a real family, Lili asks Reese to have dinner with her parents. Reese, of course, declines.
In the hidden closet, David and Liz find scrapbooks with newspaper clippings from the 1930s and 1940s when the building was the Pacific Palace Hotel and Who's Who was a nightclub called The Blue Angel. Liz notices that the nightclub entertainment was a team - Jimmy and Kaye Porter. She imagines herself and Adam as the singing and dancing duo.
As it turns out, World War II separated the couple when Jimmy enlisted. Adam finds Jimmy's letters to Kaye from battle and is just as affected as Liz. Liz again imagines she and Adam as the Porters and ponders the unknown fate of the lovers.
In the next class, Reese admits to being a product of foster care, which hasn't left her with many good childhood memories, let alone baby pictures, to share. She has been dating a wealthy, older man who showers he with expensive gifts and gives her the key to his condo. He convinces Reese to move out of the Who's Who complex if she wants to move up in the world.
At the last minute, Reese shows up at Lili's dinner with her parents. She's having a great time until her boyfriend calls and demands she go back to the condo right away. The next day, after realizing that being alone in an empty apartment waiting for her boyfriend to call isn't all it is cracked up to be, Reese decides to break it off and move back in with her real family - the gang at Who's Who.
